ENZOBIOTICA

Revolutionising Personal Care with Precision Biotechnology

About:

Enzobiotica is a limited company spun out of the University of Leicester to commercialise the patented technology developed by Dr Ed Galyov and his colleagues at the Leicester Centre for Phage Research.

Its first application is an enzyme that eliminates the cause of malodour. The business model is to out-license the technology to deodorant manufacturers who are focusing on producing innovative products that meet the rising demand for natural ingredients in the fastest growing segment of a $28 billion market.

Technology:

We use endolysins of lytic bacteriophages that selectively eliminate odour-causing bacteria while largely preserving beneficial skin microbiota.

We have identified a novel phage that specifically targets S. hominis strains.

We have also isolated its broad-spectrum endolysins that are effective against multiple odour-causing species.

These endolysins can be used as next generation active biological compounds in deodorants and other cosmetic products.
